Course Available Upon Request.

This is a self-paced maritime safety refresher for mariners, deck officers, supervisors, and shore personnel involved in or supporting mooring operations. It connects snap-back and stored-energy hazards, winch and brake awareness, safer crew positioning, human factors, role-based coordination, mooring-line and load dynamics, verified Canadian incident lessons, and regional operating considerations for the St. Lawrence, Great Lakes–St. Lawrence Seaway, and Canadian Arctic into one practical course.

Developed with reference to the current SOLAS safe-mooring framework, IMO MSC.1/Circ.1619 and MSC.1/Circ.1620, ISM and relevant STCW requirements, applicable Canadian maritime occupational-safety requirements, and recognized industry guidance such as OCIMF MEG4, the course helps Canadian maritime operators strengthen SMS implementation, improve crew and shore-side understanding of stored-energy risk, recognize abnormal line and winch behaviour earlier, and support safer decisions when mooring conditions change.
