The Maritime Certification Center project in Édéa, carried out as a public–private partnership with the Government of Cameroon, aims to strengthen national capacity in maritime training and certification. It promotes international cooperation and alignment with recognized maritime safety standards. Summary: A public–private initiative in Édéa, developed with the Government of Cameroon, is establishing a Maritime Certification Center to bolster national training and certification capabilities while advancing international cooperation and compliance with recognized maritime safety standards.
As a subject matter expert (SME) with Solution ISPS, I was commissioned to conduct a training analysis for the Government of Cameroon as part of a public-private partnership (PPP) initiative to establish a Maritime Certification Center in Édéa.
The project, launched with the approval of the functional analysis by the Cameroon Ministry of Transport, aimed to strengthen national capacity in maritime training and certification.
During my visit, I collaborated with Cameroonian experts involved in advancing the project’s planning and development, and I provided specialized expertise to ensure that the proposed training and certification programs complied with recognized international maritime standards.
This collaborative effort supported Cameroon’s vision to enhance its maritime training infrastructure and capacity, while fostering international cooperation and the adoption of best practices in certification and safety standards.
